*Music and Time museum, owned by John Mostoslavsky,
is the first private Russian museum, which unites under
one roof unique collections of old clocks and musical instruments.
The exhibits are not only to watch at, but to play them.
Museum is situated in the Volga River Embankment.
*The Yaroslavl Art Museum is the largest provincial
museum in Russia, and won the competition"Window on
Russia". It occupies a 19-th century building on the
Volga Embankment, the former residence of the Yaroslavl
governors. There are more than 56,000 examples of Russian
art in the collection, dating back from the 18th to 20th
centuries, including fine art, drawings, applied art and
numismatics.
*Saviour's Transfiguration Monastery, founded at
the end of the 12-th century, is the city's main historical-architectural
museum-preserve, with a unique collection of ancient Russian
fine art, church ornaments and utensils, furniture and household
items from several eras.
*Metropolitian Chamber, a unique collection of icons
from the 13th to 19th centuries. Of particular interest
are the icons of the Yaroslavl school of the 17th century.
It has recently been exhibited in Vatican.
*The church of Elijah the Prophet (1650) –
is situated in the very heart of the city, is an excellent
example of the Yaroslavl school of architecture of the 17th
century, its greatest wealth are its interior design and
